In Search of a Masterpiece
Why I Take Pictures
I
have been taking pictures for a long time. From the start, I simply loved to take pictures, and could hardly wait to see the developed outcome. My subjects were
family, friends and places that I visited. As much as I loved to take pictures, it was not until I had my first 35mm camera that I experienced the real beauty and art of
taking photographs.
Photography is a never-ending adventure. Subjects are unlimited and could never be depleted during anyone's lifetime. God's good earth is
full of wonders and enough variation to excite everyone that loves to photograph the world around them. And people are so wonderful to photograph in their natural,
un-posed, everyday life. Sadly, too many people think they have to be starched and pressed, made-up, manicured and posed in order to be photographed. In truth, they
are beautiful whether they are dressed up or down, just rolled out of bed or the beauty salon, sad and crying or happy and laughing, long silky strands or nappy-headed, driving
a Benz or pushing a cart -- this is life.
I suppose like every photographer, I dream of taking the perfect picture. A picture that tells a story that anyone can relate to and be touched
by. A masterpiece of sorts. I have taken a picture or two that I thought was quite good, but the quest is still on. A quest that I fully enjoy.
Life is full of wonderful moments, sometimes wonderfully sad moments. Each of those moments is worth capturing and saving forever. The moments pass so
quickly, sometimes pictures are the only things that remind us of how things once were. I take pictures because there is beauty and art in freezing time in the only way that one
can. I take pictures because every picture has a story, and every story is worth telling.

The Tools I Use |
|
I am currently using Sony cameras and
lenses. I have used Cannon and Minolta cameras in
the past. I actually liked the Minolta cameras
most and when they were no longer made, I migrated to
Sony, mainly because all of the lenses I used on my
Minolta film camera worked with the Sony digital
cameras.

I have two Sony cameras - one for backup - and several Sony
lenses, a few Minolta lenses, and a Tamron lens.

The Sony HD Handcam has been excellent at fulfilling my
video needs. I have two of these, one for backup.

Along with proper lighting various backgrounds and props, I
have what is needed to capture fantastic images of my clients.
